Bauer Nexus 800 Ice Skate

The Bauer Nexus 800 Ice Skates represent a strong runner up for top spot credentials among the entire Nexus line and feature many of the same performance enhancements found in the top Nexus 1000 model. Providing support is the compression molded EVA foam quarter package. This lightweight foam quarter is heralded among engineers for its dynamic lightweight and strong structural properties. A pro tech-nylon material wraps the quarter and provides an additional layer of support while adding minimal weight. The interior features a retro tan Clarino liner that is treated with anti-microbial and moisture elements which help keep your feet feeling great all game long. Locking the heel in place is Bauer's patented pro-integrated heel/ankle cup that reduces foot movement and thus improves energy transfer. A fully heat moldable upper works in unison with the Anaform ankle pads and transforms the skates from one-size-fits-all, to one size fits you exactly. Giving you a unique fit and one that translates to improved agility when on the ice.An ultra thick 2-piece anatomical felt tongue with molded metatarsal guard provides some reassurance when blocking a shot from the point. Form-Fit+ Grip footbeds with heel stabilizer reduce internal foot slippage and flow nicely into the Ergo-Toe cap, which reduces the gap between the boot and toe cap, improving your comfort level.Full composite outsole directs the slightest movement to the ice and saves weight in the process. TUUK LS2 holders and runners round out the package with a tried and true combination.

Pros: Helped improve my game, Quality
Cons: Expensive
I tried on every line of skate from CCM to Eastons. These felt the best out of the box. My foot runs slightly wide, but not quite an E. I originally ordered the 600 and after further thought upgraded to the 800s as I hope these will last me 10 years. I put superfeet insoles in them due to my flatter foot, baked them, and I have logged about 8 hours in them so far. They are breaking in nicely. They have alot of toe room and lock in the ankles. I had CCM CL before these and you can tell the difference in quality of Bauer over CCM. Also I think these may be lighter than the CLs. I would recommend these to anyone, but be sure to try them on first in case the toe room and width is not what you are looking for.

I bought these after using Vapor xx's for the last 7 years or so. I was going to stick with the Vapor line but decided on the Nexus line because I heard they provide better forward flex. Was a EE in the Vapors but a D in these as they run wide.
I thought about the 600s but thought they would be too soft with regular use, so I upgraded to the 800s. Good choice. Had them baked and they were about as comfortable out of the box as my old xx's. I pretty much broke them in after playing rat hockey for 2 hours. Overall, a great choice. I'm happy with the fit, ankle lock, forward flex and energy transfer. They felt great the second time I played and suspect that they will continue to get better. Very expensive, I have no way to compare to the APX or X7s. However, I'm happy with my choice.
