The 2012 Pro Stock leg pad features many of the modifications and specs that can be found in NHL Goalie Jaroslav Halak's setup. Also, this set features Halak's updated Arch graphic that he uses during home games in 2011-12.Based on the popular Zero G line, the Pro Stock has many updates that improve the pad's rigidity, durability, and playability. For starters, the pad features a single knee break below the knee to keep the pad more rigid through the top of the pad. Built using Brian's rigid, proprietary Briotek foam, the pad is molded into it's dynamic S shape at construction meaning that it will not lose it's shape or compress greatly over time. The nylon straps that runs behind the knee lock in the Zero G have been replaced by two leather straps, and there are three leather straps running over the shin/calf area. An extended inner and outer shin cradle pad completely encircle the calf area providing additional protection. The boot area of the Pro Stock is tapered, and the toe tie features an offset tie option. This is helpful for goalies who take a wider stance, and it also allows the goalie to get his/her skate blade on the ice more quickly when recovering from the butterfly position.Overall, the Pro Stock is a stiff pad from the boot to the thigh, meaning that it won't compress or lose it's shape over time. It is designed for goalies with a wider butterfly, but it's dynamic S shape may be pronounced enough to allow goalies with narrower butterflies to effectively close the five hole.
