Pros: Quality, protection
Cons: may require some minor adjusting during game play
After taking a wrist shot on the knee cap in the butterfly position using the built-in knee lock and thigh wrap in my leg pad, I decided to try knee pads to correct the gap in my leg pads knee coverage. For me to comfortably use these knee pads, I had to remove my knee lock and thigh wraps from my leg pads, and lace the knee pads to my goalie pants.
The knee pads still slide down off my knee a little during game play (for me about 1/4 of an inch) and does require adjustment time-to-time, but not enough to annoy me. Protection is outstanding, it covers up (more like encases) my knee to it does its job and I never had to worry about coverage gaps. The knee pads do not hinder my mobility at all. It took me about 10 minutes to get use to the different feel...it does feel very different during play.
If you are looking for projection, they are it but be ready to spend considerable amount of time adjusting them to work with your equipment satisfactory. Once that process is complete, you may need minor adjustments during game play like I experienced (example, going from butterfly to stand-up several times in a 1 minute time frame) .
