I purchased a senior warrior diablo with a kovalchuk blade in a 75 flex. I am 35 years old and have been playing pond hockey and recreational adult hockey for the last few years. This summer I went to an intermediate hockey camp and have started playing more hockey, so I thought it was time to get a better stick.
When I was shopping for a new stick I picked up the widow and it immediately just felt right in my hands. After that I began doing a little research on this stick and its major competitors. I don't take a lot of slapshots and I am not a really big guy so I wanted get something with a lower flex profile. This led me to the diablo versus widow. When it came time to make the purchase I really was on the fence between a 75 and 85 flex, but ultimately bought the 75 flex stick. The staff at Total Hockey were absolutely excellent. Although I will say I wish there was some way to get a feel of the stick with a puck before making a purchase. When I buy golf clubs they let me hit them before buying.
Anyways, I used this on the ice for the first time last week, and it was amazing. So much lighter than all my other sticks. Stick handling felt effortless, and it felt like I could maneuver faster because of the stick. I love the blade, the shots went exactly where I wanted them to go. Getting the puck off the stick took less effort and released faster than any other stick i've touched (although i haven't gotten my hands on that many good sticks). Finally my shots had more power than with all of my other sticks.
My biggest concern when jumping on the ice was the stick feeling "whippy" and having issues during passing and stick handling. This stick felt solid when i needed it to, and gave me an extra punch when shooting... exactly what I was hoping for.
First night out on the ice with this stick I scored 4 goals! If my feelings change about this stick in the future I'll post again, but so far I love this stick.
