Pros: Great value, Quality, Easy to use
I got this mask about 2 and a half years ago. After reading a lot of reviews I decided on the Hackva. I didn't want to skimp on head protection. This mask not only looks great, but is super protective. I play in a Men's "C" beer league 2-3 times a week and this mask has saved me on many occasions. All I have had to do is order new foams when mine got a little ripe. Cindy at Hackva is a pleasure to work with and they have excellent customer service.

Last helmet I'm buying
Pros: Great value, Quality, protection
Cons: does not dispense heat well
The Hackva helmet replaced my Vaughn vm7500 that failed to protect me. This is like comparing a Hyndai Elantra (Vaughn vm7500) to a 1974 Cadillac DeVille (Hackva). For those who don't get the analogy, please look up the the automobiles.
Hackva Summary....
PROS:
* Its like wearing a tank. Your head is protected. After 5 practice sessions and 2 games, protection is excellent.
* Excellent support from both TotalHockey and Hackva direct. If your helmet does not fit exactly, you can reach out to Hackva direct for options.
* Hackva stands by their product when you have questions/issues. (that was not my experience with my Vaughn mask)
CONS:
* The chin cup slips off your chin if you are clean shaven. I require a "5-oclock shadow" when I wear the mask so the chin cup does not slip off my chin during play. I didn't have that problem with my Vaughn because they used fabric in the chin cup, but the Hackva is all foam and it gets slippery when you perspire . Not a deal breaker, you can always replace the chin cup.
* The certified standard cage does block visibility. The bars are thick and the horizontal bar does cross my line of sight. The pro is the thick bars are strong in absorbing the shots, but the thick bars also limit visibility. Not a deal breaker, you can always replace the cage with their cat-eye option.
* Expect to sweat when wearing this mask...it is hot. There are only 2 vent holes on top, and it does get hot inside.
I rated this 4/5 stars because of the heat issue. Hackva could clearly drill 2 more holes on top of the mask for ventilation based on the foam layout they used, why they did not do this I do not know. But clearly for me only having 2 vent holes only on top does make you sweat more than my prior mask which had 4 vent holes to release the heat.

Excellent, Quality Piece of Equipment
Pros: Quality
This helmet is on the heavy side, but it's an testament to the durable quality of this product. This company knows how to do one thing and they do it right. My face gets pelted with slapshots and wristers 5 nights a week and I still have all my teeth and still can count backwards from 100.
The only caveat I've found is the glue holding the padding inside is not pliable enough to absorb the force of impact as well as the shell, as ALL of the pieces have been knocked out one by one in the 6 month span I've owned this helmet. It hasn't hindered my game (yet!), but my local Total Hockey store (where I purchased this item from) has been completely unhelpful in replacing, repairing or exchanging any part of this product. The beard is also beginning to fracture, so hopefully Hackva will follow through on their lifetime warranty, no thanks to Total Hockey.

The best there is
Pros: Great value, Quality, Easy to use, Features
Cons: heavy
Among many goalies, this mask is considered the best value there is, and given the features it boasts, it's not hard to see why. You'll be hard-pressed to find another mask with both a full layer carbon fiber and a full layer of aramid fiber (Kevlar) in this price range. Add to that the lifetime warranty Hackva offers on the shell, and you've got an unbeatable value. Being a shorter goalie, I take a lot of hits to the head, yet I can honestly say I've never felt a disturbing amount of shock with this mask, even after taking a shot hard enough to bend the cage wire. The mask does a spectacular job of distributing the force around your head. Also, the black Nitrile foam is a nice touch since it doesn't get all yellow and gross over time. One thing to note, it's a very heavy mask, but that's perhaps to be expected of a product with this kind of protection. It's absolutely worth the confidence it affords.

Great Mask
Pros: Great value, Quality
The Hackva is a wonderful mask. It feels great on the head, fits right and so far has given great protection. The chin strap can be removed if needed. The vertical strap on the back-plate harness is nylon instead of elastic and does not stretch.
