Amazing goal skate!
Pros: Helped improve my game, Quality, Easy to use, Features, light weight
Cons: Expensive
These skates are by far the best I've ever owned. Granted the other two pair I've owned were Lightnings and an unknown converted ice boot, so it's of no surprise that the G7 won a spot in my hockey bag.
On first lace up, the skates were extremely comfortable and light weight. I'm a size 9.5-10 shoe and the 8.5 fits stellar with socks on. My local shop recommended NOT baking the boots if they already fit well and were comfortable so for now I'm holding off.
The boot looks to be built well inside and out. The cowling is solid as is the boot itself, and the ankle is higher than other goal skates. While this may add some rubbing during the break-in process, I found it to improve my control when dropping - easier to drop halfway then stand back up.
Front load sound like a gimmick? I thought it was fancy marketing jargon but was quickly proven wrong. When you stand in the skates you can feel that your weight needs to be forward a little more, easiest with knees bent slightly. Planting pads on the ground with lightning speed becomes second nature once you get comfortable with how to distribute your weight.
Other notable features -
* Tapered chassis strap holes (heel and toe) to reduce wear on straps
* Single tool wheel removal
