My 5 year old had a huge improvment in his skating with these skates. I think it has to do with the skates being very light. These skates have helped hime also get his stride.

My son was skating on the outside edge of his generic department store skates. We were receiving feedback from everybody about why, but what it came down to was fit. More support in the ankle. My son started wearing the Bauer Supreme 100 at age 3 and his skating has improved to elite status. He is about to turn 6yrs old and we will be ordering his 3rd pair. Awesome skates!

Great Youth Skate

Relatively stiff for a youth skate but never required break in. It was comfortable out of the box, probably due to the single bake. Doesn't have the features (footbed etc) of the jr/sr models, but is an excellent deal at only $100. His skating improved immediately over a much less stiff skate. Lots of play and holding up well. Definitely a skate to try on. Toebox has more room than the Vapors. Thick tongue seems really comfortable to him.

Youth Bauer Supreme 100

These skates rock.They are light on my feet and it's really easy to stop right and left. It has the ability to make you turn really sharp.Yesterday I wore these skates for the first time. It was really easy to break them in.
When you turn in those skates as soon as you crossover you are as quick as lightning. Speed, I used to have an older pair of skates, Bauers, but these help me skate faster, lighter with more control of where I want to go. The difference in how I feel when wearing them is night and day. These skates make me skate as fast as Secretariat. Even when I skate backwords.

I bought these skates for my son and they fit perfect. The oven baking eliminated the tradional break-in period and my son reallly loved them. The skates are light weight and very durable.

Cons: need to be broken in completely
The skates are well worth the investment but they need to be baked and take a few hours of skating to fully break in.
At this age, you should expect your child to wear these skates for a few weeks that will overlap with the old pair - or for a few weeks of off-season skating.

Cons: materials lack that of senior skate
Picked up a pair of size 12 for my daughter who plays mite travel. The skates are very light and very rigid in nature. Overall they are really nice, however understand this skate is not what its junior/senior skate is. Blade is not LS2.1, the external and internals are also not the same materials. Footbed is also different. If you child is not used to a very rigid skate ease them into their hockey use. It took about a week of skating for my kid to really get used to the skate.
