Fun for all ages
Pros: beautiful illustrations, enjoyable for all ages, historical facts and trivia
Cons: some concepts too complicated for little kids, skips over key numbers
I also reviewed "Z is for Zamboni" (love it) - this book is written by the same authors/illustrators and in the same format.
Gorgeous illustrations, rhyming text, and interesting facts and trivia in the side notes makes this a great book for hockey fans of all ages.
My only "cons": some of the concepts represented by the numbers are too advanced for a child actually learning to count. Also, the counting goes from 1-12, then skips to 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100. Why skip 13 and 14? Not the best counting book for little ones trying to learn up to 20.
Still, my little one (2 yrs when we got the book) loves hockey enough that the illustrations thrill him and I paraphrase some of the difficult text. My older kids really enjoy the trivia
