Best ABC Book Ever
Pros: great for all ages, beautiful illustrations, historical information
This book works on so many levels. The youngest readers (my little guy was 2 when we got it) enjoy the colorful and expressive illustrations as you start to teach them the alphabet with Hockey words. Emergent readers benefit from the rhyming poem created around the letter. Older readers thru adults get a healthy dose of interesting facts and trivia about the game and the history of hockey in the extensive side notes.
This is a favorite in my house and makes a great gift. A must for any young hockey lover's library.
From the book: "L is for Lord Stanley's Cup, every team's true quest. It's winner hold it high and proud and proclaim they are the best"
Facts: "...Lord Frederick Arthur Stanley... donated in 1892... 35 inches tall and weighs 35 pounds...first winner...first American winner...Presently, there are over 2,000 names on the Stanley Cup"
(I'm obviously leaving a lot out, but you get an idea for the depth of information - you'll just have to read it for yourself!)
