I have tried several bags over my 12 yr career and I absolutely love this bag. I use intermediate gear for added mobility and my old TPS bag was WAY too huge. It didn't have a solid bottom and sagged and hit my feet when I dragged it. I was hesitant to size down but it turned out to be a terrific choice. This fits all of my intermediate gear perfectly, including my 31" pads. I do have to fit everything in like a puzzle - there's not a lot of extra room - but I am also at the top of the intermediate sizing for the pads so that's to be expected. It all fits, which is what's important.
I was looking for something with durable, stable wheels, good quality construction and stitching, a solid bottom so it wouldn't sag and hit my heels, handles on both ends of the bag for easier lifting, and sections inside for various odds and ends. This has everything I wanted.
There are velcro-closure pockets at either end of the bag, perfect for skates or clothes or other thin/tall items (it's not very wide). I use one for skates and the other for extra random stuff like pucks, wheels (inline goalie), gear accessories, extra pads, etc. On the inside top flap of the bag there are two more small zipper pockets, one of mesh (for better air circulation) and one plain. I use these for skate wrenches, extra sweatbands, and other small stuff. They are a decent size, but I can't put a full set of wet clothes in the mesh pocket which is one small disappointment. (Figured that's what it was for.) Still, it fits all my needs and I just make it work.
For travel goalies, the zippers come together to allow a lock. There are three straps to hold gear in place and prevent shifting - makes it easier to pull.
I have used this bag for almost two years now. I read the other review about the poor quality. I have not experienced that to such an extent. There are just a couple small issues I've had, which I'll mention. I did find that the stitching on the velcro pocket began to unravel soon after I started using it, but I had been pulling one side of the velcro without supporting the other. Since I started being a little more gentle, it has held up just fine and hasn't been a problem. The zippers have been great - in fact they're self-repairing so they are extra sturdy and durable in my experience. I also noticed a small rip in the mesh of the top pocket, but again figure that's my fault because I stuff way too much in there sometimes - besides which, it has been a couple years. :) Everything else has held up perfectly and it is still in great shape!
The only other thing I didn't like initially is that it is very tall. It barely fits into my small car trunk because it is so tall and hits the top of the trunk. I have to turn it and wedge it in just so or else it won't fit. I am able to just slide it into my back seat since I never have passengers, so normally it's not a problem, but when I need to fit it into the trunk it's quite an ordeal. Perhaps if my gear wasn't so big I wouldn't have to pack the bag so tightly and it wouldn't be such an issue, but I thought I'd mention it. Still, I would not let that deter me from this bag as it is practically perfect in all other regards!
