These pads are as described -- OK starter goalie leg pads. The protection is adequate. There are three nylon leg straps on each pad that clip together with plastic buckles. There is no strap that goes through the skate, so these pads do have a tendency to rotate out of place. With the nylon straps (as opposed to leather belt-style straps), the leg pads tend to get looser during play as well and need to be readjusted. There is no leather to be found anywhere on the pads, but there is ample padding and it seems to provide good protection. For the money paid, we are happy with this purchase.
